When I discovered that various yoga breathing practices had powerful effects for me, I became curious about the scientific basis for them and found a vast amount of useful, fascinating physiological, medical, and psychological information. I devoted considerable effort to integrating this information in the manuscript above, which was submitted to a psychology journal. The editors said this was an interesting topic and well written manuscript, but it had too much physiology for their readers. I was sure the manuscript also had too much psychology and yoga for a physiology journal, so there was no place to publish it. It is a little out of date now, but will likely be of interest to people seriously interested in yoga. Perhaps it can inspire someone to write a book on this fascinating topic.
